Asset Library

Moicon provides an asset library for creating factory layouts, the easy-to-use asset system enables you to quickly identify each component’s role and view the workflow as a whole.

Select a Category/Categories

Organizing 3D assets can be a daunting task, especially if you have a large collection. One way to keep everything organized is to use sub-categories within your main category.

Dashboard

To find an asset you can choose to search by folders or tags.

To find an asset by folders, click on the desired category.

The results will be shown. Click on category icon to back to all categories.

A sub-category is simply a folder within a folder. It allows you to break down your assets into smaller, more manageable groups. For example, you might create a sub-category for robots, another for warehouse, and another for machines. This allows you to quickly find the assets you need without having to search through a long list of files.

You can change the position of an asset by selecting it and clicking RMB (Right Mouse Button), and then selecting Move asset.

You can be very specific if required by using Position and Rotation value inputs.

  • Name: When naming your Asset, give it a name that will make it easy to find.

  • Position: Position of the Asset on the viewport.

  • Rotation: Rotation of the Asset on the viewport.

  • Scale: Size of the Asset multiplied by the inserted value.

  • Section: Set the section where the asset will be visible. You can keep Auto-detect so Asset will be assigned to the closest.

    • Placement: Change position of your Asset relative to other Asset

    • Unload/Load: Exclude Asset from viewport, leaving bounding box

Transform Position

The transform feature allows you to move assets or groups of assets more precisely using 3 axes. Utilizing the arrows allow you to move an asset in the corresponding axis, however, use of one of the squares over the arrows allows for movement in two different axes simultaneously.

Select any group of assets by holding ALT + LMB. This allows for the moving of several assets at the same time.

Clone Asset

To clone an asset, select any object, right click and choose Clone asset. Thereafter place the cloned asset in any desired location.

Holding CTRL allows for manually adding or unselecting single assets to the selection. After selecting desired group of assets you can clone and place on desired space.

Scale

You can set the Scale if needed and make assets smaller or bigger.

Color Override

Asset color override is a feature that allows you to change the colors in real-time, without the need to create a new texture map or change the texture itself. This can be useful for a variety of purposes, such as quickly changing the color of a model to match a particular design theme, or testing out different color schemes.

To override the colors, you will need to select the asset and then choose the Color override option from the interface. This will bring up a color picker, where you can choose the new color that you want to use. The model's colors will be updated in real-time, allowing you to see how it looks with the new color scheme.

Select one or more assets using LMB or box selection (ALT + LMB). After selecting the assets you can toggle Activate and then the desired color.

Keep in mind that the asset color override feature is not a replacement for creating new texture maps. It is simply a quick and easy way to change the colors of a model without having to create new textures. If you want to make more permanent changes to the appearance of a model, you will need to create new texture maps or modify the existing ones.

Search for and select an asset using the search bar at the top of the library.

Assign the Asset to a Section

You can keep Auto-detect so Asset will be assigned to the closest Section.

You can also set which Section to add it to manually.

Delete Asset

Choose one of two ways to delete an asset.

You can also delete an asset without deletion confirmation pop-up by clicking RMB (Right Mouse Button) and selecting Delete asset.

Placement

Using Placement, you can change an asset's relative position to another asset:

Select an Asset and choose Placement to start an action.

Select the target face, then the reference face.

Insert any desired value, it will control the distance between the two faces, finish by pressing Ok.

Your Asset will be kept in it's new position.
